Nonno's Garden

Sergio, a friend of mine from work, has lost someone closest to him in his family.

So I was called up to provide some drawings of Vegetables and Garden Tools as a way to dedicate the garden to his family member.
Or as he called his family member: NONNO.
Hench the title of the Sign.

After weeks of designing assets, here's the end result.

While I do have photos of the ribbon cutting, I can't share them here so instead, I present you the signage to said Garden.

Fake Blu-Ray Cover

The Best of Marylandia Blu-Ray

Don't get your hopes up because this is not an actual Blu-ray set. This fake box art was just part of an assignment made during Photoshop class back in College.

The assets were made in Colors 3D in my Nintendo 3DS, then exported into my computer using Adobe Photoshop, then I found some logos for sound, region, barcodes, companies, etc.

All to make it look as authentic as a real Blu-Ray box art. And yes, I even found a Blu-Ray case template go merge all my pieces together.

The Thing 40th Anniversary Poster

I almost forgot that I had these but I do.

This was one of the last assignments during Concept and Illustration class in June 2020.

The assignment was to create a movie poster that's NEO-DECOR.

Or as I like to call it: SAUL BASS style.

The film I chose was THE THING.

However, the posters were made in 2020 because at the time, I was anticipating the 40th anniversary of the film in 2022.

Well 2022 has passed and no event screening happened. Oh Well.

Here I have 2 versions of the poster.
One is the master image which you see here by default while the other is the same image but with manipulation so it looks aged and has fold creases like an older poster would look like and a higher contracts of colors.

My personal favorite is the one with the higher contrast of blue and fabric creases.

5 Styles Drawings

This was an assignment made for my Illustration Class. The Assignment was to draw myself in five different art styles.

The first was Simpsons Style
(More like Futurama Style.)

Second was Samurai Jack Style

Third was Semi-Realism like Marvel comics

Fourth was Overwatch Style

and last was any style.
I chose Akira Toriyama... or more like
DRAGON BALL Z.

(R.I.P Toriyama-San. You've earned your rest.)

Dan's been photoshopped into Surrey Central Mall with Star Wars Characters! OMG!!!

Yes, That's me photoshopped over Mark Hamill's face at Surrey Central Mall with a ton of characters from Star Wars A New Hope.
(My personal favorite is The Empire Strikes Back)

What's the context?
This was actually my final project in my digital imaging class way back in the Winter 2020 Semester before the pandemic.

The idea was to take an existing photo and layer your face on said photo and manipulate it so it blends seamlessly.

I chose Star Wars because why not, I'm a fan of the franchise.

Apologies for the low resolution photo. I lost the high res master.

Edward Hopper's Chop Suey Recreation

Edward Hopper's Chop Suey
Recreation.

This assignment wasn't for my illustrations class but rather for my Color Theory class. I was tasked with recreating Edward Hopper's Chop Suey painting.

The resemblance to the original painting is rather uncanny.

Add Bonus: I actually printed this out using my Canon TR4527 Inkjet printer...
Oh to think how much color ink was wasted

And for those of you who are asking,
NO I DID NOT USE AI TOOLS.
THIS WAS PAINTED ENTIRELY BY HAND ON A WACOM INTUOS TABLET!.

Anatidaephobia-The Fear that somehow, somewhere, a duck is watching you.

Anatidaephobia:
The fear that somehow, somewhere, a duck is watching you

Based on the Illustration class assignment:
Phobias.

I decided to make fun of a very funny comic panel from THE FAR SIDE and that was taking my one of my characters and putting them in a plane and getting the crap scared out of him by a duck who's perched himself on a wing.
(How did he manage to dodge those Turbines?)

The image may be based on a Gary Larson comic but the duck on the plane thing was actually inspired by an image I found on Google so I've decided to reference that as well.

The Many Compositions of:
Miso the Feline

I love my cat Miso. I don't know why but anytime she's around, I just wanted to capture her essence in artwork and she's quite the catch indeed.

Aliens that worship Oprah Winfrey

Nibiru Enterprise Magazine: Aliens worship Opera

This is actually funny... at least according to my Concept and Illustration class instructor in College.

The assignment was to make an illustration of a funny magazine article and I chose
"Aliens worship Oprah Winfrey".

This actually was a blast from the past.

On a side note, Niburu is a reference to a planet in Star Trek and to a conspiracy theory that scared the bejesus out of me in 2017.

Nadia Film Trilogy Posters

These posters are fake but that's the beauty part of my Photoshop class.

This was an assignment where I had to create a fake movie poster.

I chose to create a fake movie poster based on a classic 90's anime series called
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water.

(Original japanese Title: Fushigi no umi no Nadia)

But not just that, I always imagined what a film trilogy adaptation would be like in animation.

Why a trilogy? I was inspired by the
REBUILD OF EVANGELION tetralogy that was still in production by this point so that's where the inspiration came from.

Even though these posters are fake, I'm always available for directing such a thing if a trilogy is successfully pitched but If that happens, I demand full collaboration with the Japanese in order to make this happen.

After that first poster, I made a second poster during my spare time.

Unfortunately, I never got around to making a third poster.

Oh I forgot to mention, the posters reference the mid to late 1990s as that's how I imagined these posters turned out.

Robot Designs

Here it is: The one and only Robotics design made for my Illustration class in College.

These are fictional robot designs and I've got to say, just designing a robot is not enough, You've got to have a backstory for these robots so wrote some up.

My personal favorite is Killbot BS-A113 because I'm a bit of a sadist when it comes to art but it's also because I made 3D Model of him in Autodesk Maya.

You can check him out on these links to either my Lighting or 3D Models pages.

On a side note: The info for the Sanitation Droid is now outdated. He originally ran on a Coffee Lake Intel i7 processor but he's since been upgraded to an
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor. However, I plan to swap out that Ryzen CPU for a Ryzen 9 8950x in April.

What I didn't mention is his GPU. He used to run off an NVIDIA GTX 1050ti but he's since been upgrade to an NVIDIA RTX 4090.

THE THING (As a children's Storybook)

This was based off a concept made in my concept and Illustrations class where we had to take an R rated movie and turn it into a children's storybook.

I chose John Carpenter's THE THING because that film is a personal favorite of mine and I kind of prefer 1980's horror movies over the modern ones.

I've archived three pages since that was how many pages the assignment wanted.

Tribute to Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali, a surrealist artist known for breaking the realms of reality in his paintings...

Anyhow, this art piece of mine came from my Digital Imaging Class
(Better known as photoshop class),
Where I had to meld things into a tribute to Salvador Dali.

This meant painting surreal things on my photoshop canvas and even messing with existing photos such as Bugs Bunny.

Yes, I added a cameo of Andy Warhol because why not?

Sadly, I lost the master PNG file for this as well as the PSD File so all I have is this photo taken from my iPhone 11 at that time.

New York Travel Poster

Assignment in my Digital Imaging class
(Better known as photoshop class).

This assignment was where I had to design a travel brochure for a particular location.

I had some assets in my Macbook Pro at that time so I compiled them, messed with some blur tools, created a brush for the SkyTrain prototypes in the sky, and even added a cute little duckling wondering what the fish is going on near the statue of liberty.

Keep in mind, This was made in 2020, my freshman year so I was a little uncreative and sort of went for an American location but I made sure to make the brochure CANADIAN as seen below.

Sadly, I lost the master PNG file for this as well as the PSD file so all I have to show for is this photo taken on my iPhone 11 at that time, not that it matters since these Travel posters were made on the same year as the Covid-19 pandemic...
